Kick off the football season with a barbeque competition at the beach with the 2nd Annual Great Southern Tailgate Cook-off! Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, professional barbeque competition teams will compete for over $20,000 in cash and prizes at Main Beach Park on beautiful Amelia Island, Florida.
Bring your family, friends, and your appetite to Main Beach Park and enjoy great entertainment including live music from national, local and regional bands, appearances by Jaxson de Ville - the famous mascot of the Jacksonville Jaguars, arts and crafts, and a volleyball tournament - all while experiencing the thrill of the competition. Cheer on your favorite backyard team as they battle against other local teams in their own barbeque competition. Get ready for football season and learn a few new barbeque tricks to show off at your own football tailgate parties! After all, nothing goes better with barbeque than football.
PIGGY DOLLARS - Official Currency of the Great Southern Tailgate Cook-Off
This little piggy went to the market, this little piggy stayed home...smart piggies may not be going to the market, but they will be exchanging their greenbacks for PIGGY BUCKS. Smart piggies will be glad to know that while this event takes only PIGGY BUCKS, it also exchanges unused ones. So bring money, appetite, and a perfected palate to Main Beach and savor some of the best barbeque you'll ever taste. PIGGY BUCKS exchanges are located at the main entrance near the shuttle drop off point, and next to the barbeque vendor row at the event.
Admission to the event is free. Parking is available for $5 per vehicle at Atlantic Elementary School Field on Friday and Saturday, and Fernandina Beach High School on Saturday including shuttle service to and from Main Beach every 15 minutes. Food and beverage available for purchase inside the gates. Outside food and beverage not permitted. No pets, please.
