Kick off the football season with a barbeque competition at the beach with the 4th Annual Great Southern Tailgate Cook-off.  Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, more than 50 professional and backyard barbeque competition teams will compete for over $20,000 in cash and prizes at Main Beach on beautiful Amelia Island, Florida.

Bring your family, friends, and appetite to Main Beach and enjoy great entertainment including live music from national, regional, and local bands, all while experiencing the thrill of the competition.  Cheer on your favorite backyard team as they battle against other local teams in the Arlington Toyota Backyard Competition.  Get ready for football season and tailgate parties!  After all, nothing goes better with barbeque than football.

Food and beverage will be available for purchase inside the gates. Outside food and beverage not permitted.  No pets, please.

There will be plenty of barbeque and all the fixings.  Multiple professional and backyard teams will be selling different styles of lip-smacking barbeque.  Visit BBQ Vendor Row at the event to purchase your favorite.  There’s no better place to get your fill of savory barbeque than at a barbeque competition!

This year’s event will feature a People’s Choice Contest where participating teams compete for the public vote!  For $10, guests can purchase a wristband allowing them to sample the barbeque of participating teams and vote for their favorite with provided tokens.  The People’s Choice Contest will take place Saturday, August 24th from 12 noon to 2:00pm.  A limited number of wristbands will be sold to ensure availability of sampling and participating teams will be placed together for increased visibility.  Wristbands can be purchased the day of the event at the Information tent.

The VIP Pig Pub will feature table and bar seating as well as fans and plenty of cold beverages and shade – all with a great view of the stage!  There is a $5 cover charge to enter the VIP Pig Pub, with access all day the day of purchase.  Must be 21 years of age or older to enter VIP Pig Pub with valid ID.
